Do you qualify for a computer?
Program Purpose:
Digital Equity West provides computing devices to eligible participants who complete digital literacy training. To qualify, households must meet income eligibility requirements or participate in one of the following programs: CARE, SNAP, WIC, NSLP, or meet certain income requirements.
Income Threshold Schedule 2025-26
For Digital Literacy Projects, only households with incomes at or below the thresholds required to participate in, or that participate in, the California Alternative Rates for Energy (CARE),7 the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program, the National School Lunch Program, or the Women, Infants, and Children Program are eligible to receive computing devices to take home after completing digital literacy training courses (take-home computers).
Eligibility based on income:
The CPUC sets different income limits for CARE and FERA. The limits for the CARE program are as follows (effective June 1, 2025 - May 31, 2026):
